My passion for photography
I’ve loved everything about capturing moments in time through photography for as long as I can remember. My parents bought me my first Fisher Price “SLR” camera at 4 years old and I was obsessed with it and have saved it all this time and have now given it to my 4 year old daughter!
While in law school, I got my first Nikon DSLR as a Christmas gift and from that moment on, if it was possible for me to be wearing my camera around my neck snapping away, you could bet money I would be! Anywhere, anytime, for any reason – at parties with friends, vacations and traveling, and even while working as an attorney in a law firm, I played the role of on-site “photographer” at firm parties, other gatherings, or when a new hire needed a quick headshot for the firm website! Needless to say, I have intertwined my love for photography at almost every instance I can!
Even while practicing law as a litigator, hustling to and from nearly every courthouse in New York City, I would relish every opportunity I could to capture newlyweds standing outside of court whenever I was lucky enough to run into them! At first, many would look at me confused as I would be dressed in a suit so they could clearly tell that I was a lawyer approaching them offering to take their picture – but those expressions of confusion would almost immediately turn to expressions of gratitude - and always, without fail, these moments filled my heart with pure happiness just for having the opportunity to capture that moment in time for them so unexpectedly and so “in the moment."
My interest in photography was so cemented in my personality that I started doing engagement shoots for friends who were getting married, and newborn sessions for friends who had babies just for fun! While I knew I was giving my friends the gift of photographing them at a very special time in their lives, I always felt that it was even more of a gift for me to have the opportunity to do so.
To me, there is nothing more beautiful than capturing genuine smiles, laughs, connections, love, humanity, nature, and at times, raw emotion. For this reason, my style is very playful, relaxed, and spontaneous! I love to loosen up and have fun with my subjects in order to evoke the natural beauty that exists within all of us. But I also know when to step back and let nature do its thing. Using a candid approach, I blend into the process and give my subjects space to be in the moment.
I’m never happier than when in nature, so love nothing more than to work in natural surroundings, and with wonderful people, pets, and families!
It’s the most simple moments of life that oftentimes turn out to be the most beautiful.
